Hybrid-VTOL UAV Engineering & Fabrication

 Hybrid-VTOL UAV

Introduction:

This section follows my RC aircraft fabrication series with a new model the Skywalker X8. The first section of this post will be more about the details of determining the maximum take-off weight, thrust and power-to-weight ratios, and wing loading. Next, sizing and scaling some components such as the electric quadrotors engine-pylons.

CAD modeling using both ANSYS, Sketchup, and Solidworks will be used in this project. Then, another section for the assembly process. Finally, the flight setup and testing will be added later if everything goes according to plan "inshallah".

Flight Performance and Specifications:

Using statistical analysis of previous similar models can be a time-saving start for aircraft designers and engineers. An empty weight versus maximum take-off weight graph can be used to identify the ratio needed for a scaled model. This process is essential for scaling and getting the right dimensions of UAV fixed-wing and hybrid models.
